Creeping Communism, the Socialist Agenda

Ezra Taft Benson
U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower looks on as Supreme Justice Fred M. Vinson administers the oath of office to Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson in January 1953

“I have talked face to face with the godless communist leaders. It may surprise you to learn that I was host to Mr. Khrushchev for a half day when he visited the United States, not that I’m proud of it. I opposed his coming then, and I still feel it was a mistake to welcome this atheistic murderer as a state visitor. But, according to President Eisenhower, Khrushchev had expressed a desire to learn something of American Agriculture — and after seeing Russian agriculture I can understand why. As we talked face to face, he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism. After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren will live under freedom he arrogantly declared in substance:
“ ‘You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.’
“And they’re ahead of schedule in their devilish scheme.”

These are the words of Ezra Taft Benson. Ezra Taft Benson served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower for eight years, at the same time he was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS church. He later would become President of the church.

We know how Satan works. It is by slow progression. One small sin here and one there until the large ones aren't so bad. Socialism and Communism are the same way. We have gone from a point in our history where morality and character mattered. Where there was such a thing as right and wrong. Where people expected to obtain in life only what they put into it. Where the government knew that people need a hand up not a handout. Where people had more self respect than to constantly lean on the government to solve all their problems. We went from the greatest generation to the welfare state, higher taxes, more government programs, huge deficits, government bailouts, homosexual marriage, rampant sexually transmitted diseases, sin of all sorts being brought into the mainstream, abortion, the culture of death, redistribution of wealth.

It is easy to see where we go from here. The fairness doctrine, decreased first amendment rights, elimination of second amendment rights, equal pay for unequal work, elimination of religious freedoms. We have to start somewhere. Now is our choice. We make a move to strengthen traditional values and government under McCain/Palin or we take another step toward socialism under the Obama administration. We have the opportunity to vote for change. Obama's change is in the wrong direction. I hope some of you realize that. In the meantime I'll be preparing my physical and spiritual storehouse for tougher times ahead.
